Sari Blue Undula Carved Bowl. 2023
The blown and carved glass work explores form, surface and light, attempting to find an aesthetic balance in the objects – the rough line of the carving against the fluid form of the blown glass. After the vessels are blown in the hot shop the surfaces are removed through an aggressive carving process using diamond cutting tools and then followed with a finer abrasive sand blasting. The etched surface is then protected with a silicone based sealant.
