Leaden, a nest cast in lead on a free-floating lath shelf. Series of 10 nests, each sold separately. "A year in paces, a morning ritual of walking has led me to collect numerous bird nests from the thickets along Ottawa’s waterways. In this piece, I have cast each nest in lead salvaged from the torn out ironwork of Parliament Hill— an act of preservation at the perceived fragility of a tiny sanctuary and an exploration of the weighted concept of home and domesticity."

Leda and the Swan, cast bronze and resin with a found antique prospector's axe from the Yukon and reclaimed 200 year old local wood.  Edition 1 of 3 has sold; inquire with the gallery to commission a new sculpture.

A bronze Leda strides gazing unwaveringly forward—it is a moment of strength and control. Slung from her right hand by its feet is a ghostly white cast resin swan, Zeus—no longer a threat, as draped across her shoulders from her left hand lies an axe at the ready. As the story is rewritten a heroine emerges as the author of her fate.

A two person exhibition of sculpture by Mary Anne Barkhouse (AOCA, RCA) and Anna Williams, curated by Lisa A. Pai.

The title Beneath the Tame hints at subversion or revelation. The tame has already been tamed. And yet, life lived and observed, remembered and considered empowers these artists to burrow in, under, below, beneath. Beneath, a preposition, not a noun, is a close extension that doesn't supplant the banner of the current noun, rule or system with another but engages it otherwise. Experience shared by the hospitable joining of forces such as the congregation of the many under pink Pussyhat ears, among other kinds of ears both furry and bald we meet in this exhibition, helps us usher in, strategically, tactically and otherwise, e.e.cummings' "the gay great happening illimitably earth."
