Journey of Balance - A copper vessel with a cherrywood base, held in place with magnets, 11”x5”x4”.

This piece unearths forgotten and unfinished projects from the past and breathes fresh life into a new object that represents the multiple stages of my career as an artist.

The base of this piece is made from cherrywood representing her roots as a carpenter, something that she has been passionate about for many years. The feather component is the first metal item she created with the use of construction materials: copper roofing sheet, stripped electrical wire, and plumbing solder. This feather was created long before the change in her career that would lead her to metal, representing an additional medium that has been added to her toolbox. The flowing wire structure is made from recycled electrical wire and represents the old flowing into the new, like a current sparking life and inspiration.  The raised copper bowl, embellished with a blue/green patina emphasizes the balance of the choices she has made, her ability to adapt and change, and her growth as a maker.
