Since 2002 I have inhabited a small pocket of land in eastern Ontario. The gift of this space and my life within it offers me the ability to revel slowly in the natural world and develop a certain intimacy with it. Worlds open up with time spent engaged in looking and sensing. Somewhat mysteriously, the wonder of it all feeds my creative life.
Objects of the Hand and Heart: A completely new series this fall (2015). Unglazed, carved, burnished and sanded clay object are made to be held and explored through touch and as objects of contemplation. Referencing reliquaries, artifacts, ritual, and natural objects, the work reflects on the quiet process of making, and the accumulation of presence and history through touch, attention and interaction.
