While modernist design often\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003efollows the principle that “form follows function,” I approached the process in \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003ereverse. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eI began without deciding what the object would be or how it would function. The \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eonly certainty was that its form would reference The Persistence of Memory by \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eSalvador Dalí. I first created a flowing, water-like base, then flattened metal \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003econtainers with a hydraulic press and combined them with the structure.
