Rhythm Necklace, hand crafted from Sterling silver, Amethyst, Swarovski pearls and crystals
A Japanese braiding technique over 1500 years old. The once simple finger-loop braiding technique developed into a complex one, including various designs and patterns that brought about new tools and a newfound importance to materials. Kumihimo braids, once used to tie the samurai’s armour together, began to play a role in religion, tea ceremonies, and eventually into jewellery.
Rhythm features two braids, one with Swarovski pearls and spades, the other with the same pearls and amethyst chips; and each braid done with a specific spiral pattern. In the necklace there are 100 spades, 100 amethyst chips, and over400 pearls.
