These pieces are results of the artist's ongoing series which draws inspirations from the gourd (hulu 葫芦), which Ancient Chinese regarded to be a symbol of prosperity and good luck as it is prolific in fruits and seeds. It is also believed to be a charm to ward off evil spirits and disease, as well as a symbol of longevity.
