Reflection Through Time and Space (Expansion)
Porcelain sculpture, under glaze painted and glazed
This work is based on an arctic oil exploration vehicle, and an image of a tree root system is visually incorporated into the drilling structure. The details of the root system are applied with a clear hi-fired glaze to suggest a stained glass window and its connotations of worship. A central theme in this work is ownership and manipulations of history particularly as it pertains to development and resources in the north. This theme also examines how historical narrative is bound to resource acquisition.
