I questioned how \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003etechnology mediates our relationship to the natural world and whether digital \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003esimulations can replace that connection. I contrasted the green patinated \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003ecopper that suggests age and regrowth with a holographic image of an abstract \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eplant that appears futuristic and otherworldly. I used the Pepper’s Ghost \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eillusion to project a 3D-modeled plant from a hidden screen to achieve this \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eeffect. The shape and form resembles a butterfly which symbolizes \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003etransformation and growth, while the cold enamel lines add a biomorphic \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003equality.
