Anthia Barboutsis is a new generation artist and art jeweller from Toronto. She studied Material Art and Design from OCAD University in Toronto, and graduated in 2021. Her work is rooted in the realm of traditional craft, but often draws inspiration from her mixed Greek and Indian heritage, as well as contemporary art and design practices.
Anthia works in sterling silver and gold, and specializes in merging textile and jewellery techniques to create intricate hand woven pieces of wearable art. By utilizing the malleable quality of the metal she is not only able to create three dimensional structures, but also able to combine different weaving patterns and natural forms in nature to push the boundaries of traditional textile techniques.
