Anthia Barboutsis is an art jeweller from Toronto who graduated from OCAD University Toronto’s Material Art and Design Program in 2021. Her work is rooted in traditional craft, drawing inspiration from her mixed Greek and Indian heritage, but her focus is on contemporary art and design practices.
Anthia specializes in merging textile and jewellery techniques in precious metals. By utilizing the malleable quality of the metal she is able to create three-dimensional structures. Anthia combines different weaving patterns and forms in nature to push the boundaries of traditional textile techniques.
