My art has always focused on the line. Lines – whether ink, paint or silver cloisonné wires – have found their natural path on paper, canvas, and metals, articulating my thoughts and visions. Today, enamelling has become my preferred form of expression, combining elements and approaches from a succession of art media that I have practiced throughout my creative life.
Gayane was born and spent her formative years Armenia, a country with a rich and ancient history. She is inspired by a wide range of sources including Armenian medieval manuscripts, Haitian iron works, nature, and contemporary art objects.
