Jiho Choi is a Canada-based Korean jewelry designer and metalsmith who recently graduated with his Bachelor’s of Fine Art degree at NSCAD University. Choi uses his past experiences studying mathematics and engineering to create kinetic pieces. In order to make pieces with controlled movement, he must create highly precise mechanisms.
Choi intends to create work that reflects the simplistic joys of childhood that have been forgotten in contemporary adult life. His work reinforces the importance of experiencing the simple pleasures in life, regardless of age. His work asks the question: “When was the last time you smiled with your heart at something so simple?”
