When I moved to downtown Toronto nearly ten years ago, I shared in the popular rhetoric that cities were cesspools of pollution and violence with an indifferent populace. My decade-long journey of exploring so much of what the city offers has given me a new perspective. I now appreciate the city as the green metropolis it is; a place where different modes of travel are encouraged, where innovation thrives, and communities are built. As someone who studies and creates through a lens of urban exploration and appreciation, I see our public spaces as more than just functional. They are social, cultural, and emotional landscapes. Playful Pathways is a collection that reflects my desire to reframe these urban sites as precious objects that are worth holding onto, preserving, and celebrating. Each piece in this collection is inspired by specific playground parks throughout Toronto.
