My current work is guided by the concept of memory and its implications on our perception of reality, our identity, and how we interact with the world. I seek to evoke a sense of vulnerability, nostalgia and contemplation.
Monika Urbaniak is an MFA candidate in Craft Media at AUARTS University. After graduating from NSCAD, I worked with fibre, paper, and found objects, driven by a fascination with the sculptural possibilities of materials. That fascination eventually led me to jewellery, a form that blends sculpture with the endless possibilities of the human body as a canvas.
