I play with light and function in my work. When slip casting, I carefully refine the thin raw porcelain to highlight its natural qualities, bringing the unglazed exterior to a smooth touch. Soft pastel glazes on the interiors and carving on the surface are revealed with light. The material is a brilliant white, but when light shines through, it is transformed.
Nicolette Keaney is a Canadian ceramic artist based in Ontario. She was introduced to ceramics through the Beal Art program in London Ontario and is currently completing her undergraduate degree at Sheridan College in Craft and Design, specializing in Ceramics.
