An Ottawa-region ceramic artist of international renown, Paula's exceptional and innovative approach to porcelain has recently won her the Jingdezhen International Ceramics Biennale Kito Prize which includes an upcoming three-month residency in China. An elected member of the International Academy of Ceramics since 2017, her work is in international collections ranging from the Ceramics Museum of Tapei City, Taiwan, the World Ceramic Exposition Foundation of Icheon Korea, and the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy. Her well-loved local public art commission Nautilus has been suspended in the south entrance of the City Hall since 1990. Her travels to the High Arctic aboard the Canada C3 Expedition marking Canada's 150th had a profound effect on her, resulting in a powerful piece titled "Who is Speaking? Who is Listening?
Paula will present an hour-long video about how and why she makes her work, followed by a live Q&A for the online international Ceramic Congress, scheduled between May 26th-31st.
