Bas-Relief Pendant with Anubis and Pharaoh by Matias Beaulieu
Pendant in sterling silver, with 24K gold. Created with embossing, sawing, forge forming, Keum-boo. 50 mm x 35 mm x 10 mm. October 2024.
This pendant is a way to revisit Egyptian art in a contemporary way. It represents the rite of the Egyptian dead, on the left the pharaoh who asks Anubis to prepare the sarcophagus for the passage of his beloved to the afterlife. This scene is inspired by the bas-relief of Egyptian architecture, which is why it is embossed by hand using chisels.
