Gazer emerges from my insecurity around my knuckles, which sometimes makes me feel hyper-aware of my hands. Drawing inspiration from medieval gauntlets crafted for royalty, this full-finger cover is meant to transform that vulnerability into protection. I created Gazer to conceal my finger while also accentuating its form. Along the piece are chased lines that trace the exaggerated curves of my finger to guide gazes away from my insecurity. Additionally, apatite, which is derived from the Greek word "apate" meaning deceit, reinforces the idea of covering and deceiving watchers. Moissanite originates from a meteorite crater and is used to imbue the piece with an otherworldly power.
