Harmony of All Living Things Silver Mask by Yiqi Sun

Harmony of All Living Things Mask, silver. W 14 cm x H 8 cm x D 13 cm. 2025.

This mask was inspired by a trip to Parc Omega, a vast wildlife reserve near Montreal where animals roam freely in their natural habitat. The park offers a rare opportunity to observe a variety of species coexisting peacefully and, in some cases, even interact with them.

This immersive experience sprouted the idea of creating animal-themed jewelry. The artwork depicts a peaceful gathering of animals resting harmoniously on a deer antler, representing unity and serenity. Both Japanese and Chinese folklore feature deer, and both cultures hold the animal in high regard as a sacred animal and a deity of the mountains. The piece rests just below the eyes of the wearer like a mask—symbolizing the human as an observer of nature. It, therefore, serves as a reminder of our role as witnesses as opposed to masters of the natural world.
