Ice Dancers Neckpiece by Pamela Ritchie

‘Ice Dancers’ -  a midwinter’s night reverie. Sterling silver, pearls, 24 k keum bu (24 k gold overlay on fine silver). Hand fabricated, with cast elements soldered in place.  The central pendant is 9 cm W x 8.5 cm H  x 2 deep. Laid flat, It is 19.5 cm W x 24.5 cm H x 2 cm D with a total length of 57 cm. 

During calm, cold and crisp winter weather the lake near my home freezes and takes on the impressions of shimmering glass. Soon a snow falls and encrusts the surface with crystals of white and blue. As the snow dries and forms small clumps it breaks away from the shore and dances across the lake like a dancer in joyful abandon. This piece is a celebration of winter.
