Reticello Axis bowl, 24 x 24 x 12 cm. 

A one of a kind hand blown glass sphere is cut in half to create two open vessels. Sold separately.

I cut the sphere at an axis which is perpendicular to the design to reveal an interesting, architectural cross section of the form.

Reticello refers to a classic Italian cane work technique wherein two layers of glass canes are pressed into one another to trap an air bubble at each intersection of the grid.

These vessels are cut and hand polished to a satisfyingly sharp-edged surface. In contrast, the blue stripe that divides the light and dark halves of the vessel is indented and soft to the touch.
