Small Etched Sterling Dragonfly Wing Bracelet by Andrew Goss
Etched sterling silver bracelet, fits small to medium. It is 25 mm wide, the cuff measures 2.5" around with a 1.3" opening. It weighs 29 g.
Andrew Goss has been using variations on this wing pattern for years. He found a dragonfly near his cottage and the wings were almost perfect, he then took photos and digitized the images by repairing the broken parts so he had a detailed record of all four wings.
To create the etched design on the sterling silver, Andrew applied a resist of acrylic floor wax and india ink over a drawn pattern which was done with a Sharpie. When the acrylic wax was dry, he used a scriber to draw through the semi-transparent resist. The silver was then suspended for several hours in an etchant to etch out the lines. He then removed the resist, shaped the rings, thickened the edges, wire brushed the surface to accentuate the pattern and give more texture, blackened the surfaced, and then polished the final form.
