« Ce Qu’on Fait de Nous » is a triptych on identity formation, rooted in the essence of paternal absence. Each of us may grow up with a sense that something that influences the construction of our identity. This void becomes a silent wound, materialized through a transparent resin evolving across the three pieces, evoking a path of transformation. The fusion technique was used to develop more organic forms inspired by the nervous system, which is the project’s main visual influence. The whole is accompanied by artist-cut cabochons alongside faceted stones.

The hand ornament echoes childhood, a period in which the wound becomes deeply rooted through anger, incomprehension, and sadness. In this piece, the wound is deliberately represented as cracked and traversed by fissures in order to evoke its emergence and fragility at this stage of the journey. I chose to use stones in softer, pastel tones to recall the world of childhood, moments of light, and the sensitivity associated with this period of life. However, these stones rest directly above the wound, visible through the openings created by the structure’s filaments. This choice aims to show that, even through brighter moments, the wound remains present and continues to influence how one moves forward and builds oneself.

In the end, we are shaped not only by our wounds, but by what we choose to make of them.
