Sorrel Van Allen crafts trophy for 2024 RBC Emerging Artist Award

Halifax-based jeweller and sculpture Sorrel Van Allen created the trophy that was presented to Todd Houseman, recipient of the 2024 RBC Emerging Artist Award. Houseman, a Nêhiyaw (Cree) actor, writer, and improviser, is celebrated for pushing boundaries and finding contemporary ways to express Indigenous culture.

Sorrel wrote on her Instagram:  Congratulations Todd Houseman! 🎉 The recipient of the 2024 RBC Emerging Artist Award. It was a pleasure and an honour to create this sculptural silver award presented at the 2024 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards this past weekend.
