« Ce Qu’on Fait de Nous » is a triptych on identity formation, rooted in the essence of paternal absence. Each of us may grow up with a sense that something that influences the construction of our identity. This void becomes a silent wound, materialized through a transparent resin evolving across the three pieces, evoking a path of transformation. The fusion technique was used to develop more organic forms inspired by the nervous system, which is the project’s main visual influence. The whole is accompanied by artist-cut cabochons alongside faceted stones.

The cup expresses the fragile transition from understanding to empathy, transforming the wound into a more serene form without erasing it. In this piece, the resin has been fully polished. This treatment evokes a wound that, over time, is no longer raw but becomes calmer. The base of the cup, shaped like a hemisphere, supports the entire piece and allows it to stand upright. This choice symbolizes the idea that the wound is no longer only a weakness, but something that shapes the individual. The choice of the cup as the main form is linked to the idea of receiving like a cup receiving a liquid. After analysis and understanding comes the capacity for openness and empathy, like a vessel able to contain something external to oneself.

In the end, we are shaped not only by our wounds, but by what we choose to make of them.
